FARGO — Elevate Canine Academy,

a Bismarck-based business that offers general obedience and day training for dogs

, has opened a Fargo location at 3029 13th Ave. S.

Under the program, dogs arrive at the facility at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and they remain each day until somewhere between 3 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

The program runs for two weeks.

When owners pick up their dog each day, staff discuss with them what their dog learned that day.

During the course of the program, a one-on-one half-hour session is scheduled with owners to make sure they understand what they need to be doing at home to help reinforce what their animal is learning.

Dogs can start the program as early as 17 weeks of age.

The cost for the two-week program is $1,500.

Owner Kyle Baltrusch said the business focuses on helping aggressive and reactive dogs.

He said he was inspired to start Elevate Canine Academy because he once owned an aggressive dog and ended up having to euthanize the animal because he could not find any resources or services that could help him with the animal’s behavior.

“My objective since I started this business was, I want to make sure people aren’t having to make the decision I had to make. We want to make sure that dog (we train) gets a fair shot at being a good dog that doesn’t have to be re-homed, or put down,” Baltrusch said.

“We can’t solve every problem,” he added. “But, we are a resource I didn’t have available to me.”

Baltrusch opened the first Elevate Canine Academy in Bismarck about four years ago.

In 2021, his business partner, Laurie Goss, started a sister company in Olathe, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, called

Who’s Walking Who KC Dog Training

.

The Fargo location is now the third academy to open.

Baltrusch said people can sign their dogs up for the program by calling 701-929-4160, or by
