The Extension Course in Strategic Management, taught by FGV In Company, is part of the curriculum for the Maritime Policy and Strategy Course (C-PEM) – the highest training program of the Brazilian Navy, intended for Captains of Sea and War selected by merit and an essential requirement for promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral.

On December 11, 2025, the Escola de Guerra Naval (EGN) held the ceremony for the awarding of insignias and prizes to graduating student officers of the 2025 class of C-PEM. The event marked not only the graduation of the participants but also the consolidation of an important partnership between the Brazilian Navy and FGV aimed at enhancing the strategic qualifications of military leadership.

C-PEM 2025

Since 2024, students of C-PEM have had the inclusion of the Extension Course in Strategic Management led by FGV In Company/IDE in their curriculum, reaffirming the commitment of both institutions to excellence and the continuous improvement of the analytical and decision-making capabilities required at the highest levels of National Defense.

With a workload of 114 hours, the course covered central themes for high leadership practice, such as institutional relations, macroeconomics, geopolitics, defense economics, artificial intelligence, data science, and team management. The content complements the training of officer-students, aligning with the strategic objectives of C-PEM and strengthening analytical capabilities in areas essential to the Brazilian Navy and the National Defense Policy.

In the words of Professor Guilherme R. Garcia Marques, course coordinator and faculty member, “C-PEM represents a privileged space for strategic reflection, in which FGV contributes to broaden horizons through a rich convergence between military tradition and academic excellence.”

Captain of Sea and War Alexandre Motta de Sousa, in charge of C-PEM, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting the added value from the “transmission of critical knowledge within the course.”

The partnership with the Escola de Guerra Naval reflects FGV’s role as a Strategic Defense Company, demonstrating its strong commitment to teaching, applied research, and the training of leaders focused on national security. Throughout its operations, FGV has trained over 7,400 officers from the Armed Forces, of which 212 have attained the highest command positions (Generals, Admirals, and Brigadiers), consistently contributing to the institutional strengthening of National Defense.
