Internal promotions lead Lufthansa Technik’s strategic management changes

Lufthansa Technik has announced a series of key management changes, with the new appointments coming from within the company.

Soeren Stark, chief executive at Lufthansa Technik, said: “In order to continue our journey of success, embracing change is essential. I am pleased that we can fill these crucial positions from within our own ranks, a testament to the tremendous talent within our company.

On May 1, Michael Kirstein took on the role of vice president of the transformation office, where he will lead the ‘Ambition 2030’ growth initiative. This programme is aimed at strengthening Lufthansa Technik’s global leadership in aircraft fleet technical support. Previously, Kirstein oversaw operations within the company’s engine services division.

As of May 15, Derrick Siebert, formerly vice president of commercials engine services, transitioned to the role of vice president of operations engine services. A month later, Dr. Georg Fanta, who was vice president of commercials aircraft component services, joined the engine services team as vice president of commercials.

On July 1, Thomas Illner, the former chief executive of Lufthansa Technik subsidiary BizJet, was appointed managing director and head of region Americas at Lufthansa Technik Component Services. On July 8, Berit Plewinsky became vice President of commercial aircraft component services, after serving as senior director of product sales and fulfillment in the aircraft component segment.

Several changes took effect on August 1. Tim-Oliver Fedeler, previously head of digital innovation in the component segment, assumed the role of managing director of Lufthansa Technik Component Services Asia Pacific and senior director of product sales and fulfillment for the region. Jens Michel, who was head of legal affairs for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), became vice president of sales for North East Asia. Additionally, Dr. Alexander Sixt joined Lufthansa Technik Intercoat as managing director, having previously managed the Global Competence Center for Warehouse and Aircraft Maintenance Solutions at Lufthansa Technik Logistik.

Lastly, on August 15, Fabian Nagel, previously senior director of procurement engines and airframe, will step into the role of vice president of sales for VIP and special aircraft services, succeeding Wieland Timm, who is set to retire in September after more than two decades with the company.

Stark added: “I wish each of them every success in their new roles and am confident that we will continue on our successful path as a team in the years ahead.”
