Software Development and Product Innovation Centre opened at VTU

Belagavi: The Software Development and Product Innovation Centre of US-based Xcel Corp was inaugurated at the Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF), a Section 8 company established by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belagavi on Friday. The centre was inaugurated by VTU vice-chancellor Prof Vidyashankar S. in the presence of Xcel Corp founder and CEO Jit Goel, VTU Registrar Prof BE Rangaswamy, and Registrar Evaluation Prof TN Srineevasa.
During the inauguration, vice-chancellor Prof Vidyashankar S emphasized VTU’s efforts in implementing various projects aimed at the holistic development of engineering students in the state.He expressed his delight at the historic moment of inaugurating the first US-based software company’s platform at VTU, stating: “Today is a special occasion for VTU as a first industry that too US-based software company Xcel Corp is inaugurated its platform here at VTU. Undoubtedly this is a historic moment for VTU fraternity.”
Prof Vidyashankar explained that the platform will operate for the students with the concept of ‘earning while learning’ and will provide training, project-based learning, and internships for students. Students will be exposed to hands-on sessions related to designing, programming, and software development. Speaking on making Belagavi an Industry and IT hub, he mentioned that VTU is creating a platform to recognise and financially support the innovative and creative skills of students, providing a tangible platform for new ideas and encouraging them to start their own start-ups. To impart skills to all engineering students, VTU has signed an MoU with NSDC New Delhi.
Founder and CEO of Xcel Corp, Jit Goel, highlighted Belagavi’s strategic location and potential to become an Industry and IT hub of Karnataka, citing its talent, infrastructure, industries, and favourable climate. Despite these advantages, he noted that young minds are moving out of Belagavi in search of livelihood in cities like Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad. Xcel Corp, through its software development centre, aims to generate employment for local talent and address this issue. TNN
